This means, that if you are planning a boating trip, they undeniably is a variety of bays and islands that will suit you perfectly. But then comes the question to know how to choose! Tell us a bit about you

My name is Panagiotis and during the summer months I work as a skipper to crewed sailing charters. I have been sailing for more than 20 years, and I have participated in various sailing races with many awards in national championships, like the Ionian and the Aegean Rally. 

So I can say that I know my way around, and I assure you that they are beautiful places to go to. The top 5 I will tell you about each has a unique and one of a kind beauty you need to witness! 

What are the top 5 bays you recommend worth seeing?

Voutoumi

Voutoumi in Antipaxos for example is like a real life swimming pool. Crystal clear light blue waters and golden sand, surrounded by a natural environment full of green. 

Gaios in the island of Paxos is the perfect place to retreat after a full day of sailing. Enjoy delicious greek food, and then go grab a cocktail to the bars next to the sea.

Fiskardo

Fiskardo in Kefalonia is a well known and cosmopolitan destination, you must visit when sailing around the Ionian Sea. It has some of the oldest and prettiest houses and that fact alone makes it worth visiting. 

Vathi is the capital of the well known island of “Ithaki” and a very beautiful place to see. There are many bars and restaurants ashore in which you can enjoy tasty food and grab a drink.

Kioni

Kioni is a small  bay and is considered the most beautiful village of Ithaka. You need to walk in it beautiful streets and witness its beauty up close. And if you are an early riser, you’ll be able to witness the stunning sunrise. 

What are the tips when going to such a spot? And what about the sightseeing?

Usually experienced sailors and people that know these places well, will tell you to go there on the low seasons. This way you will have the chance to see the beautiful nature surrounding them, without the crowds and the noise, but rather with peace and quiet.

In most of these places there are a lot of tavernas nearby, with tasty food and local wine, a worth living nightlife and beautiful places to see. I always take my clients there and I definitely recommend to visit them all!
